American Pile and Foundation was responsible for the construction of deep foundations to support 42 monopole transmission towers. The towers carry 230kV electrical transmission lines over 7 miles of varying terrain including sensitive wetlands and environmentally remediated locales. The project included roughly 350 high capacity drilled minipiles and 35 drilled caissons ranging from 9 feet diameter up to 13 feet diameter and depths ranging from 20 to 48 feet. Caissons included roughly 270 tons of reinforcement steel and over 3,500 yards of concrete. Many of the caissons required use of a low headroom drill rig.
