American Pile and Foundation was contracted to design and construct deep foundations to support 21 monopole transmission towers. The towers carry 230kV electrical transmission lines over 2.2 miles of sensitive wetlands and environmentally remediated areas. The project included 349 high capacity drilled minipiles with over 18,000 linear feet of high strength anchor rod drilling and 7,500 linear feet of high strength casing. Pile design loads were in excess of 100 Tons Compression and 90 Tons Tension. As each tower location was unique, the project required several pile load tests to 250 percent of the design loads for verification of the selected soil design parameters. Additionally, American Pile and Foundation used the Osterberg test method to test the piles.
